Velvet Paint - Gallon
Velvet Wall Paint is a revolutionary premium natural washable textured interior mineral wall paint. You may initially find it similar to Ralph Lauren's Suede Paint that was discontinued, but when you experience Velvet Paint you find it is mineral based wall paint and non synthetic and much easier to apply. Simply roll the first coat and brush the second coat to get a matte velvety aesthetic. Velvet Paint is the first and only paint that is 100% non-toxic and zero VOC handcrafted using natural mineral pigments with best-in-class scrub and water resistance. It is absolutely dead flat with a consistent velvety texture.

How to Apply Velvet Paint Finish
Velvet Paint does not require the use of a special primer so you can go directly over previously painted surfaces or primed drywall. Since it is extremely durable, a sealer is not needed.
It is important to stir Velvet well as it is possible that pigments may settle to the bottom during shipping. We recommend a mechanical mixer and to box all of the paint together to get one large batch. Please purchase enough paint and then batch it together and keep leftovers in an air tight sealed container for future touch ups.
The paint will not block stains or even the porosity of your surface. You will need to ensure the surface is even and unstained and all joint seams are sealed and blocked prior to use to prevent telegraphing/bleed through.
To apply Velvet Paint you can roll or spray on the first coat to give a great mineral base. You may add up to 10% of water to the first and second coat to make it easier to keep a wet edge so you do not get lap marks. Do not apply more than 10% water as it will impact the washability of the surface. It will be dry to the touch in 4-6 hours but it is best to apply the second coat after 12 hours or overnight. For a velvety texture, you would apply the second coat with a block brush in an X pattern.
Please refer to our Velvet Paint Tutorial on the Tutorial page for a visual demonstration of applying the paint.
To achieve a luminescent mineral finish when Velvet painting you can roll on or spray one to two coats. The velvety texture is achieved by brushing out the second/final coat.
You can roll on Velvet Wall Paint on ceilings, doors, trim, moulding and baseboards as a nice complement to matching Lime Wall Paint.
Coverage is dependent on substrate. On painted drywall coverage is 300 square feet of wall space for one coat. 3.5 gallon will cover 1,050 square feet of wall space.
This is a natural mineral based material and slight variations will occur from batch to batch. Conditions such as humidity and porosity variations in the surface can also impact the color uniformity. It is recommended to order at least 15-20% more paint than needed to ensure you have enough of the same batch and there is enough paint left over for future touchups.
Safety information - mineral paint can cause skin and eye irritation. Protect eyes and skin from spills. Please wear eye protection. Safety Data Sheet (SDS) available upon request.
